One of my co-workers brought in two old saws since he knows I have been tinkering with them. One is an old Homelite Wiz and the other is a Craftsman. The Wiz is shot unfortunately. White death jas taken over and the case is about gone. The Craftsman used to run but seems locked up now. Can anyone ID the Craftsman?IMG_20171106_222528300.jpg IMG_20171106_222400205.jpg IMG_20171106_221902155.jpg

Good little saw but not the most sought after.

They were his dads as well. His dad used to run a sawmill and used them in the yard. I was hoping the Wiz was in better shape, just to use as a wall hanger. The rear handle and part of the case is gone due to oxidation. It looks like it has set in the dirt for years.

The main crankcase and half the handle is all one piece.
In the shape its in, there might be a few parts but not much else...

Oh, and thanks for the response to the PM..

That wiz would be a good wall hanger. Paint it up!

The 3.7 Craftsman/Roper wasn't a bad saw in the day .Not extremely fast but had a lot of grunt .My father snapped the crankshafts on two of them .Too much soup I guess because the old man had a tendency to tweak them a little bit .He managed to fix the last one he blew up and it resides in Louisville at my brothers and his last McCulloch is on a shelf in my shed .
The things are build similar to a Homelite XL-12 .

This Craftsman 3.7 is running like a bandit. I really like this saw. I refurbished it for a good friend:

It is now one of his favorite saws. I can't say that I blame him for using it regularly. If it were mine, I would. I have no choice but to agree with Al Smith.
