I am far far from expert but Dan's saw seem (sound) gutless in the last video.I know this type of wood is very difficult because of the resin and the density of the wood but the saw sounds really sad.

Well it doesn’t look gutless and from many videos so far that’s the sound of it

Since the fuel gets injected I would guess the engine runs on a much leaner mix than a carburetor fed power head.
Ok i can see the system could be accurate in its fuelling , but the amount of mix still has to lube the motor as per any non injected 2 stroke motor so I wonder if there is more to it.

7 or 8t rim?
Bar length?
Round or square chain?
Hand filed or ground?
Fuel/ oil type?
Mix ratio?
How many tanks through it?
Temperature?
Humidity?
Barometric pressure?
How old was the log?
Did you hug it first?
Why are your cookies so thick?

Inquiring minds need to know....

I've got a 281 P/C and a 181 chassis that I'm planning to build soon.

Be nice to see how it compares to a 30+ year old design, we all know the 2 series are as simple as a design as was ever made, and reliable as an anvil. Heat is any engines enemy, so time will tell, to early to make a broad statement one way or the other on the 500i imo, they do sound different though,

Here’s a good question if it’s that hot all the time what about the fire hazard? It’s bad enough starting moss up on a 395 muffler but the whole saw it’s super hot imagine fine and all of that getting into the fins I can imagine a fire hazard in the future.

The 500i does have a different exhaust note. I'm hoping it will improve when I get to the point of modding the muffler.

The most straight across and fair comparison I have for the 500 are the 79cc Dolmars. It's not ready for the MMWS 461 or the MOFO hybrid yet. :)

Hey guys, I know we all have a thousand questions about this new saw myself included, lets give Dan some room to work through this and try to keep things on track and point so we all can learn a thing from his experiences.

Thanks Steve. I really don't mind any and all questions, I'm just not sure I can answer everything fairly at this point in testing the saw.

Trying to avoid the 'fake news' scenario as much as possible. :)

I think it's getting stronger...7 -pin 25" ES with RS chain.

In to the 6th tank of mix on this thing now.

It sounds much better in this video and the cutting speed seems to be more in line with what I was imagining.

Despite what several people have said, videos are a good representation of a machine's performance if the variables are kept fairly consistent
and the operator is transparent about they operate the machine. Thank you for giving us a thorough look at this thing Dan.
