I’ve always preferred odd-ball, not common, cartridges for some reason. My cousin, and hunting/shooting buddy, tells me why do you like making it hard on yourself finding ammo. That’s probably why I started handloading. Post any odd-ball calibers you have. Here’s a few I own:

I'm just the opposite, I try to keep everything standard, mostly due to cost and availability and yes I do a lot of reloading.
For me it's mostly .22lr, 9x19, .40s&w, .45acp, .223, 300blk, .308 and 12ga.
The funny thing now is that the oddball stuff can be easier to find than the standard stuff and is sometimes cheaper.

Closest thing I have to oddball anymore is a Sako in 222 rem mag and also not really that odd is a Walther gsp conversion in
.17hm2 (and .22) (gun is probably odder than the cartridge).

Way back when had a Savage 99 in .22 hi power, sold it because of the lack of availability of the ammo.

The 222 mag sounds pretty neat. I had a 17M2 once and used it to squirrel hunt. My 17HMR and 22mag was more accurate so I sold it.

I love oddball and also-ran cartridges. I had my Howa 1500 .30'06 rebarrelled to .257 Roberts by E.R. Shaw. It shoots way better than I can take advantage of and has very mild recoil. I also bought some .38 Long Colt brass to use in my .38 Specials.

Roger 77 mk2. 6.5x55 swedish Mauser. Only thing available at the time I bought it (90's) was empty brass from Norma. Was $25 box of 20 brass way back then. Wanting to buy my Dad's T/C Contender barrel in .219 zipper.

The 6.5x55 has almost gone mainstream nowadays, alot of rifles are now being chambered in it.

As for odd ball cartridges I have a 7-30 waters chambered for my T/C contender pistol and it's very accurate with factory ammo. I have some dies to start working up a load but need some more brass.

I am actually looking for a 14 inch .338 JDJ#2 barrel for my contender. Anybody know where I could possibly find one? I did alot of looking and haven't found any. I even got on SSK industries (the maker and designer of the cartridge and barrel) website and it hasn't shown up for sale.
