Amazing; but not that uncommon anymore. A friend of mine just graduated high school and wanted to join the Navy. He flunked the math portion of the ASVAB. His mom asked me if I could tutor him. When he came over I discovered he could not multiply or divide. He did not know how to do long division and couldn't tell me what 9x3 equals (or any other single digit multiplication). I asked him how he passed math classes; he said with a calculator, which isn't allowed on the ASVAB. Instead of trying to learn he never came back, said screw the Navy, got a job and moved out.

This same kid could not get a job with a tube bending company because he couldn't read a tape, couldn't convert fraction to decimal, and couldn't convert gauge to decimal and vice versa. I have known him his whole life and was blown away. He is a good kid and would make a good worker somewhere that doesn't need math. He is working for a traffic signal company right now painting traffic signs, putting out cones and barrels, etc.

My 6 yr old does better math than that. Of course we do drills in the car while driving, if his mouth is going to be moving I'd rather it be about math than BeyBlades and Pokemon...

The dumbing down of our population is necessary for the political machine to retain power....

For a guy that made the "No Politics Talk" rule you sure like to talk about it...

He was fortunate enough to get the common sense gene.
He'll be fine. *Worst things in life than not learning math. Now, at least he can read.

Yeah I feel like they want a 2 class system. Rich and poor.

He didn't name any partys......... Their all the same anyways. Make a big distraction while they gut everything that allowed them to get in office.

We have two separate elections in the next 6 weeks. I am so done with candidates. Had one at the door yesterday, I’m sure he could see me but I wasn’t answering...

I'll talk to the local one when they walk the street.

Now them poor unpaid interns that go door to door for a candidate that probably couldn't even find Topeka on a map can *f-word off.
