If the structure is rotted and could be unstable
We used shoring post like these around a badly installed
Picture window.
Replaced the studs header and plywood.
It wasn't bad at all.

I hope its not needed, but after I'm done stripping the wall totally I gone get a pro to inspect the wall construction system.
It could be worse, but it aint 100% perfect, my plan is to let it dry for a couple weeks (there is just one bearing straw who need it and that one had absolutly no damage), and take it from there. I got no plan to close the wall until I'm 100% sure its ready for it.
I'll shot some pictures soon Dave, you will be shocked to see what isolation materiale they used back in late 1800's

1/3 stripping done, slowly we're heading for the big issues

It could be cracked or crunched....makes no difference, no fix, no cure, just pain and time. Super sore though
a damaged shoulder take long time to cure buddy, be patience my friend
