Good morning fellas! Inch and half rain yesterday and another half last night. More for the next two days!

I actually prefer fall mushrooming, but everyone around here is so wound up with morels because they're so elusive.

We eat quite a few mushrooms...mostly sauteed/seared with sea salt and wine. And omelettes. Love some mushroom omelettes.

My lady's brother is a year away from being a Dr. in Ecology, specializing in mushrooms. Here he is with a giant Hen of the Woods he found last fall. Now that's some good eats!

They say we have them but I never knew what I was looking for.
We like the elephant ears as there called here better than morels.
I wish I could find a good id pic of goats beard. I have been told they are excellent also.

Hen of the Woods likes white oak. It's probably my favorite wild mushroom for taste. Last fall we found those, chicken of the woods(makes a great faux chicken taco), chanterelles, and aborted entalomas. All tasty. Our pasta sauce recipe uses some of the black trumpets that were found up north and dried in the fall of '17.
