Had some Mongooses as well thrown in with the ol’ Rampars and Diamondbacks. Mongoose and Rampar were pretty much at the same price point around here in the 70’s. You sho nuff had to save your push-mowing, grass cutting, after school jingle to get a Diamondback...they were quite more stout in price than the other mentioned mfg’rs. And getting usually $10/$12/$15 bucks a yard back in them days, had to buckle down and set your sights if you wanted one.

Then we migrated to Honda XR-75’s, Can-Am’s, RM’s, YZ’s...then we really started getting skint up, and breaking *s-wordt!

Fun damn times back in those days, outrunning the law across the schoolyards, etc. All three schools...Elementary, Jr High, High School were all within three blocks of the house growing up. Law would finally quit chasing us, just send a cruiser to go sit in front of the house...you gotta go home at some point!

@USMC615 any thoughts on sealing the lid?
Looky there...sweet! Don’t worry about the leakage right now until you get several cooks on it. Even the rolled lip of the top, bottom will move some. Mine did the same thing years ago when I first got ‘em. I’ve always kept the dome lids in the same position. Just make sure your vent is perpendicular to a coal holder, not over one, if you’re using them. Push come to shove, order Lava Lock Seal in 1/8” thick by 1/2” wide in black.

Just doing an initial burn in for now. Thanks. The on board propane quick starter sure is nice, load charcoal, turn knob, push button and coals are ready to cook in about 15mins.

Beats the hell out of a chimney starter and newspaper seven days a week...

You folks are gonna enjoy that Performer Deluxe. Copper color is sweet!

@GCJenks204 ...Gary look at BBQGaskets.com if you wanna go the gasket route. And buy the Weber 22” extension rotisserie ring and roto as well at some point down the road.

Have my eye on a few accessories, that roto ring , well all the Weber accessories are pretty pricey. Good thing I am used to Stihl accessory prices.

Got back from the folks house.
Didnt see Beaglebriar there either.
Went by and got the battery charger off the tractor battery.
She lit up as soon as I pushed the starter rod, so I went ahead and cut the field. Fescue was chest high and THICK. Had to back up several times. That little Allis Chalmers is gonna Sleep good tonight.
