I’ve seen that answer, I’ve never heard it explained. It is likely a good possibility, all I know is that none of it is math I need to do to live.

So the covid has forced cancellation of the Kings Royal and the Knoxville Nationals this year. I'm over national pandemics at this point.

Actually two people got the answer correct...your wife is correct, and Dave @Czed is correct. Had I said two people got it right, some, at least one I know, lol, would've merely backtracked and found the two common attempted answers at the puzzle...then chimed in with the same.

Maybe I can sling up a little easier puzzle next time...for those that "don't need that math stuff in their life to live or get by with."

...and if any explanation is needed line by line, I can helps wifs that too.

Now i dont got a dog in this fight. But im just curious if airplane schematics are printed like that. I know our blueprints here aren't. Why dont we just go wif whole numbers and fractions from here on out. LOL

Now.....I quit school in 1979. I'd never seen algebra. I said to my mom once that I thought algebra was stupid. Keep in mind that my mom was an industrial engineer. She went on to explain to me that whenever I figured out a rafter.....or a set of stairs that I was using several different types of math, and that algebra was one of them. Then, she laid out the process of calculating a rafter from measuring the width of the building to the addition of the tail. Brother......I was gobsmacked.

Line 1...three clocks, two of which have a value of 9 each, the other has a value of 3, total 21

Line 2...three same calculators with the display '1234', each display added has a value of 10, total 30

Line 3...three light bulbs with 'five' light lines above each, each light line has a value of 3 (3x5=15) per each bulb

Line 4...clock value is 9, calculator display reads '1224' vice '1234' for a value of 9, now is where the stumper comes in...each of the three bulbs only have 'four' light lines above each bulb (each light line has a value of 3, now each bulb represents a total of 12 per bulb (12x3)

So... 9 + 9 x (12 x 3) = 333

And there you folks have it. I blew it out my ass the first time I tried it quite a while back...second time I hit it.
