From what I understand most airport are using a tool like a thermal sensor for checking temps of all types of things. Infrared and doesn’t require actual contact with skin.

also we have a different parking lot from the plant workers so wonder if they have to go through the same thing

Local Channel 6 news at 4:30 show was a behind the seens on how they do it now. You can run the whole thing with laptops and cell phones. Very few people in the office besides skeleton crews for the actual set and anchor people. The anchor man was live off his cell phone walking the building while cutting to the director at home, other anchor ladies with huge empty offices and reporters meeting the van crew but never interacting. Interviews are done with an 8ft mic pole. Slick stuff.
