Was a pretty *s-wordty day at work today. I’m now working from home and found out we are laying off some staff. They hadn’t received their notices yet so I couldn’t even say goodbye.

Those of us that remain are going to a reduced work week. Some 4 days some only 3. Sounds like we’ll get some employment insurance for the lost days but only 55% and no pension contributions or holiday accruals.

The part that sucks is that my workload is 5 days plus and likely won’t change much. Just doing it for less pay. You are right though, we each need to do our part.

I am nervous about the staff that work directly for me. One was to retire at end of May and likely will have to go now, one on mat leave probably won’t be back and the other is pretty junior and is great for me but overall skill set isn’t as broad as some other and our other manager doesn’t like her all that much.

I fought for her today but I don’t have the final say. I hope it was enough.
