I'll see if I can find a bigger burr tomorrow and transfer the intake Iron Horse style!

Some music for your slackers

Thanks Tor

Ok guys... Tell me what ya think.

My best friend needs a cheap SUV. He is hell bent on a 5.7 Hemi Durango. I found one for $800 obo, '07, 100k exact miles, but the engines locked. I'm thinking a bent rod or valve, possible fluid leakage into a piston or cylinder well. The RamZ forums have tons of threads about locked 5.7's and say that stuff to, and that it's a relatively easy fix and once the sp/coils/harness/valve cover is off and out and pin point what it is, solve it and it begins to move it's go time from there. Also could run Marvel Mystery Oil through it, that stuff is the shït. What do y'all think? I told him to offer the guy $300 and if it doesn't end up working, part it out or get a junkyard engine but I think it can be fixed. He's an awesome dude and has a new baby and just moved so I'm trying to help him. There's a 2012 at Copart with a damaged fender that's 87k miles and only $2,650 but he don't think he can get it in time.

I'm sure that new motor will have more than a few problems. I'm over the new chit lol.

It could but its an old school simple design. Ive watched a few videos on it and the head engineer said the thing they spent the most time on was the oil ring pack. And despite its size its really just a big Windsor motor. It's foot print under the hood is smaller than the 6.2 or even the 5.0 coyote motors. I'll give it a few years and see what the used market looks like. Being a Chevy guy I'm really looking in to them. Plus they have the straight axle like real trucks should.

I would like to but it's a pita to get them correctly mounted to the np435. We'll see how bad the 360 is in a few days. It's a shame it was rebuilt supposedly 5,000 miles ago.View attachment 222406

Nothing cheap about building a small block mopar. They are pretty resilient, though. I would pull it, slap all new bearings in it, run some Marvel through the oil pump, soak the lifters for 2-3 days in Marvel then engine oil, slap a good NON-STOCK i take on it and let the boy run it. You could toss a cam in it as well, but truck heads weren’t know for their flow. If you want to have some fun find some 340 heads and cam. I wish i had kept all my spares and extras from my hard lessons with small block mopars.

Trans is good.

Can't disagree with the minivan deal. Always said no way I'd ever own one but the wife had a grand caravan here when she was driving for the school that was pretty damn nice.
