We burn 10-12 cord on average. Stumpy Steve must go through twice that much.
I burn 4-6 full cords of dry wood. Mostly red oak heart wood from dead old pencils and tops. Next year I need to stack all red/white oak and locust heart wood. Old black oaks, Asianapin, post and chestnut burn great also. They are all low ash wood. Maple, service berries and mullbury burn hot for less time but leave a lot of white potash behind. It might try the ash in some home brew mortar mix with some Marlton green marl and sticky yellow clay from the pines. Sand is everywhere in all grades here natural or refined products. Plus all the pea gravel you could want in any size.

Well at least I know why all you guys are into chainsaws now. I used to think it was some strange fetish’s! LOL!
Yeah sure.

We could cut all our firewood in a few weekends or just pick at it all years so we need ten plus saws, at least :D
Three tanks of gas and one chain. Then we toss it or sell it. You must have good clean shinny new tools with hotrod mods o_O

We burn Douglas fir, black oak and cedar. A lot of people out here burn lodge pole. It’s in the pine family. There’s a ton of it around here. I don’t usually burn it because the btu’s aren’t as hi.

Douglas fir burns good. I stay away from our red cedar. It burns like fireworks. The klinkers never dry they always pop like the yellow pine. That and pitch pine burn too fuggin hot. That stuff will crack an old cast stove like hedge does or orange.

Burn it? I prefer turning it into dust...

The wife on the other hand, will start a fire in July if I don't hide the kindling and matches.

Good morning guys. Hope y'all have a great Saturday. Last minute things to do before Christmas.

Today is a sad day for me. I lost my dad 3 years ago to a drunk driver who hit him head on. Pretty much ruined the holidays for me but I'm trying to stay positive and in the spirit.
