What are you using to set the posts?

(we’d kill for a 12” frost line. We average 4’ and have been 10’ on a bad winter. Underground plumbing here has to be below 6.

Post gets set with stone and sand. No concrete, no need.
It has three coats of 10-30

Check every bearing with plastigauge or disassemble the bottom end and do it right! Never trust what you got from someone else.

Good base for a 383 stroker build

Negative. Four bolts crack at three and four main bearing web from the exsposed threads. A two bolt with splayed caps and line bored should be used on all 383's. I've seen too many cracked motors built on four bolts in heavy street cars. I cracked two in my 78' four speed four by four 355 pu. I run with a top loader and a NP205 2.16LR

Yep after he has some driving experience under his belt. I had a nasty 383 in my old 64 El Camino. It was actually a bit much for daily driving. Less cam and carb would have helped, but the compression was to high for pump gas.

Swap in dished pistons.
