Good evening smellers. G man came and hauled off the planer finally, good to see it gone. Otherwise cold and snowy, stay inside and get feeling better kind of a day. Ported a cylinder and making some chains etc..

Investing the coin in this Kimber model for the gimmee price to me, is kinda like buying a cheap Remington bolt action rifle nowadays for next to nothing, thinking yer gonna get an old school Remington 700 BDL when it comes to how it’s made and how it shoots.

An old school Remington 700 BDL .30-06. Mfg’d in 1976...back when they made real bolt action rifles. Remington was hot on Winchester’s ass with their pre-64’s...and Remington didn’t disappoint, just late to the game.

I pulled the scope off this one, still sporting the rings. Just don’t shoot it that much...actually haven’t shot it in ten years or so. But I wipe it down like the rest of all my guns, every other month or so with silicone spray. Never had a single spot of rust on any of my weapons, for decades.

It’s a cherry 700 BDL.

Back story...my Dad bought this 700 BDL .30-06 for one of my older Marine brothers when he joined the Marine Corps back in ‘76...Cobra Gunships. My brother passed away several years ago from cancer, and my Dad before he passed, wanted me to have this 700. It’ll get handed on to my son, and hopefully to his son. All about the legacy of a fine firearm!

Moon is slick right now, ain’t a cloud in the sky, and the stars are shining. If I had another set of hands, I’d get these out and park these big f’rs on the back patio concrete. Too much of a gamble with one set of hands to move...they’re heavy, and the mirrors are very expensive to even think about replacing if I *f-wordks up trying ‘em by myself.

Funny story...this gypsy fella calls me while I was picking olives. He asks me to put my 390XP and a 2166 on the bus to him and he'd pay via the bank.
