Anyone know what the transmission need to operate with no Computer?

Full manual valve body, or a stand alone transmission controller round 600$

Just say no.

It will likely cost you more to convert that truck to sbc/BBC than it would to swap in a reman 6.0.

Should be able to drop a 4.8,5.3 in if no budget friendly 6.0 available..

Just a flex plate spacer, and ecm reflash should be all that's required...
Just a seat of the pants.

The 08 5.3 Sierra with 80,000 doesn't have what the 04 Suburban 5.3 has with 190,000

I know there's a lot of love here for an old school carbureted sbc, and I'm also a fan, but when was the last time you guys saw one that went 3-400k miles without a rebuild? If the oil is changed every 5k miles on these vortec (or whatever they're called since 98 or 99) they'll outlast 2 or 3 bodies. Imo, they'll damn near go forever with simple maintenance. 350's needed a cam every 60k

Th 400 will bolt to your t case with the correct length output.

The big block and small block will require new motor mounts. If you go big block you could possibly use the 8.1 motor mounts. But may have to fabricate some.

I know for a fact the radiator will be struggling to keep up.

Likely need new driveshafts made.

Tall deck big block oil pan will need swapped out.

The fuel pump will need to be regulated down at the engine.

Wireing could be a hassle, as the ls is distributer less..

All new exhaust.

The list goes on

Likely get a new gm 6.0 replacement cheaper....

Sorry. I know it was fun, but any sort of current efi is better than a quadrajunk.

6.0 's probably aren't everywhere, but maybe you could find one. 5.3's though are plentiful. You're used to the 6.0 only hitting on 7 anyway. Look into what Joe mentioned earlier about a 5.3 conversion.
