Help me out smart fellers. This is the second time Ive pulled this plow pump because the seal has pushed out of the race. The seal looks fine. Is it just not enough tension in the race or is something else going on? Was thinking some loctite retainer to lock it in there. @DSS, Chris, Kevin said you may know?IMG_1730.JPGIMG_1729.JPG

That seal shouldn't see any pressure. Is there a breather somewhere on the casing that might be plugged??

Just pissing in the wind here...

Is that line at the bottom a case drain or where does it go? It's possible the seal is just loose in the bore but it doesn't happen very often. If that's a case drain back to the tank and it's restricted in any way, or not big enough to start with, it'll build up pressure and push the seal out

I pressed the seal back in the race the last time this happened. Its definately not "loose". Ive filled this with the correct pump fluid not atf so Im fairly certain its not collecting moisture and freezing. There has to be something else going on to push the seal out Im just not sure what to look at.

Does that shaft spin do it have a o ring on it letting oil past and pushing seal out

Yes, the shaft in the aluminum housing is the pump gear. The motor which is the yellow part in the pic spins the shaft.

There's different pressure ratings available for seals. Maybe you got a wimpy one. Although that ain't gonna help it stay in the bore.

Is that a Meyers John? Does the motor side see any pressure. It should be sealed from the other side, no? Am I seeing it wrong?
