Got my junkyard 372 in from
@LAWN BOY and I’m positive that the issue was debris from a broken piston skirt. The question is why? The bearings are all smooth and intact. The cylinder and piston actually looked to be pretty low hour. Debris caused gouging in the plating near the right side transfer bridge. After honing, it doesn’t look like the plating was actually chipped or broken. Just for the heck of it, I cleaned up the piston and grooves. I’m half tempted to throw rings in it and see how long it runs. Worst that could happen is I have to get a new top end anyways, right?
