I got a new Raaco, this one is for storing tools, Wera T handle Torx and Hex, and important sockets, wrenches etc.

Couldn't help but bring a Knipex and a Wera T handle since they were both on sale.

Tonight is going to be spent doing some foam work

Collected the first bucket of sap of the season yesterday. I only do a few quarts for our use. Three trees. Amazing how light and sweet the early syrup comes out.View attachment 483077

That's great progress!

Stop straining it through a week old jizz sock and you'll be fine.

Gotta starch & pre-form the filter shape somehow.

Not to mention the unique flavor profile it creates.

You guys need to start using those old hoės knickers, for the real (jizz & piss & bits) flavour enhancement..

Maybe 5 years ago we lost all the Blue Jays coming to the feeders for a couple years. Indiana called it a mysterious illness.
Good evening everyone. In the south we used to have Robins come through every fall. Didnt see a single one this year.

Snow geese and canadians used to fill the rice fields every year, but not anymore. Hardly any pintails or mallards either. Thats partly because theres not anyone farming now. Most of our farmers are growing hay and raising cattle.

Ive heard some people say the birds dont have to come this far south because it stays warmer up north? It got into the 20’s maybe twice for a few hours this year and thats extremely cold for the gulf coast (people buy up all the chit paper soon as it dips into the 30’s). So I dont have anything to compare to because our winters are always pretty mild here.

Anyway, I see im about a week late to this conversation but theres what Ive noticed down here the last 20 years or so.

I put in my 25 taps today. It should run decent the next couple days then we’re back to deep freeze. Probably should have been tapped a few days ago. Far from big time here…

Good Morning ☀️

Not below freezing for the foreseeable future. We have come from weeks of unusually cold weather to this. Had to run the AC for 30m last evening to dehumidify things inside.

Will spring weather appear and dominate or will winter roar back and knock us silly? Tune in next time to Appalachian Survivor!

We're going to get some weather changes from a little cold to snow/slush, but looking forward to a few degrees warmer.
Biked so hard yesterday that I got a little cold, but plenty of water throughout the day is pri 1.
Going for a drive locally and picking up what looks like a 242 part chainsaw, can't go wrong for $70.

When did you come across the farmer's market sign for our little village, I wonder?
