Sometimes, when im working on a chainsaw or whatever, I'll look at how something is designed and think, "Golly, those engineers were clever fellows indeed!"

Other times, working on the same piece of equipment... well, I think about the engineers, but the word "clever" is nowhere near my thoughts.

In my current role on the "kaizen support team" I create the projects and ideas for folks all over my building. About 1/3 comes from the minds of production folks, the rest straight from engineers. They would draw with crayons if allowed. Not all of them @JoeDirt , but many. Most, even.

I've been flat out recently but I'll try to remember to look into some postage costs our Monday.
If it works out great if not no big deal. Just thought I'd ask and try to help out a good cause.
The fact that parts store calenders aren't what they used to may play some small part also...

I’m in school with them everyday and I can walk you through a lineup and tell you which ones are gonna be the crayon engineers and which ones won’t be. Some get it, and plenty don’t and never will.

Two years in a trade or just some sort of blue collar work should be a prerequisite to engineering school just as a way to weed out the ones who lack basic sense.
