I don't understand why there is hatred towards a generally successful state.

Taking care of, using, as much of American land as possible, is success for the country.
To hate so much that one does not want a state to be rebuilt is to go backwards into the future.
Nobody wants others to suffer. The main complaint is the disparity in relief efforts. The people in western NC and eastern TN have also suffered, and aid has been almost non existing. Meanwhile, a blank check awaits those in CA. Both places need the same response, but the feeling is that the aid you get depends on which way you vote.

Also, California is just as much America as TN, it is the government of California that draws the ire!

Wake up you fughin slackers.
Been up since 3:45, dozed back off at 6:30 and the ankle biter woke me up at 7:00 because he had to go out and be fed. I’m a little irritated! The wife’s had something going on that’s caused a rash and she can’t sleep due to itching all over unless she takes 2-3 Benadryl. She’s not even moved since 9:30 last night, lol.

The key word there is infrastructure. How about the people that lost their homes, insurance says act of god, sorry. Government says we need to fix the highway. Here is $750, good luck. Also, you can't live in one of those tiny homes the almish built, because it never had the permitting process completed, or doesn't meet building codes. So back to your tent, that is OK, as it is considered a temporary structure.

Good morning men, happy warm and rainy Saturday. We all need to stop the arguing with each other, and turn our collective ire at the right target. They want is to fight about stupid chit, while they fleece us with inflation. Have a great day all.

As with any Government assistance, it takes time to get it rolled out. I’m not and have not been on the ground in WNC, but from following a few disaster relief groups on FB, FEMA could have definitely done more as far as temporary housing. After Katrina, there were campers cities and trailer parks setup everywhere. There are still people living in tents or sheds in WNC. I’m not sure if that is due to lack of help or pride. I know how those mountain people can be….i know the Cajun Navy has been helping get campers to a lot of folks in the area so they at least have something.

Hopefully it warms enough to get some of the packed snow/ice melted from my driveway. This hard freeze is going to make it an ice rink if not. I pushed some off with the grader yesterday, but I can’t get that monster around the garage close enough. I may just have to use the loader. Every year I say I’m going to get a snow plow for the Ranger or a snow pusher for the tractor……

As far as arguing, I try to keep those opinions to myself.

Most of the help has been from regular non profits. I have been out there, and just about everybody is pissed. Even those that weathered it well, can not believe how slow the response was, and there is a lot of community helping each other. Not what should have happened at all.

Edit: The community help should happen, the slow .gov response should not have happened.

Morning men. Parts came in for my son’s dirt bike so I guess it’s to the shop to fix a few things on it and change tires. I also ordered a set of bars for my daughters since she wrecked hers pretty good and twisted the factory bars. How these kids do this crap is beyond me, lol.

I agree about the slow response.

That's what I've seen. Cajun navy is awesome. Lots of people donating and helping. Government may have sent money but it's not really helping all the victims directly with housing. They have paid for hotels for some displaced people but there's not enough room for everyone. I really can fathom the idea of living in a tent in 0 degree weather.

I have a good friend that lives in Boone. He helped set up a bunch of modular homes for FEMA somewhere and they are still sitting empty. I’m not sure what the deal with that is. I’ve saw posts of similar situations. We have donated several heaters and propane to a friend that is taking another load over this weekend.
