How can they pay higher tax rates federally than the next state ?
Maybe income is more but why do they try taxing people and corporations for leaving

While the number of dollars sent in from a state is often compared to the number of dollars returned to a state. One must remember the means of earnings, and the products produced, as well as the margins on the products. While California produces quite a bit of the fruits and nuts supplied to the rest of the union, the income earned on that production is a small amount versus the money earned in the tech sector. Their economy is mostly vaporware with high margins. And their products are used around the world with no shipping required. All virtual.

The breadbasket of these united states, feeds everyone. And the margins are smaller, so the revenue and the taxes paid are smaller. And are much more labor intensive. Not as many billionaires in farm country. Causes the average income to be smaller with more people below the poverty line. You can't eat your twitter, and you can't live without food. So comparing different regions of the country is almost impossible. I know I would rather live where the food is grown, than where the tweets platform exists. Just because we value stupid things more than important things, and give them greater value, doesn't mean anything. How much richer would TN be if they had ocean ports along it's length?

I don't understand why there is hatred towards a generally successful state.

Taking care of, using, as much of American land as possible, is success for the country.
To hate so much that one does not want a state to be rebuilt is to go backwards into the future.
