Hey Wandy

What happens that makes the arm on a worm gear hit the oil pump and break it ?

The bearing ?

I cleaned that oil pump off good and I can see where the arm knicked the pump.
I've seen a bad bearing on the drum cause the drum to tilt and cut into the pump. If it tilted enough, it could push the arm down into the pump body. Overly tight chain is the cause of most of these things.

@JoeDirt
Here's the chunk I have. Been using that piece for probably 25 years. It was a busted off piece from a larger one my brother in law gave me back when he was doing production welding on mezzanine.

Sheet copper also works for some reason I am sure I don't understand.

Dry belt broke.

Took apart dryer.....replaced belt, guides, tensioner.

Vent looks suspect.

Went under house.....replaced dryer vent pipe with solid tube.

Go in shop to work. Something smells burnt.

Tracked it down to the surge protector. Lightening last night must have caused a big surge....and popped this thing. Lights in the house flashed a few times too.

Now.....maybe I can work awhile.

Morena E Hoas.
Our main thorough fare south has been blocked for slip repairs for 8 weeks or so now, 4 or 5 more to go apparently, but the job has grown twice already.
In the meantime going this way costs an extra 20 minutes.
That's the Hen and Chicken Islands, and Sail Rock, for the inquisitive.

Up on the Lake Erie today with toes in the sand. Thought yinz guys would be interested in the straddle crane lift for large boats. Capacity on this beast is 820 Metric ton. Or 903 ton, or 1,806,000#. If you need long ton well gfy by brain hurts already. Also took a pic of a fire tug this company is restoring. Pretty cool stuff we don't see very often. 20240523_102447.jpg20240523_102301.jpg20240523_102541.jpg
