I think Vtec uses a system similar to what GM used on a 2.5 in the Malibu back around 2012. It has 2 lobes and a mechanical rocker arm that has a hydraulic actuated center portion that shifts it between high and low lift.

I was talking to the worker when a screaming jackass was yelling at the woman in the next window
After a couple minutes of trying to communicate about my taxes
I lost it and told the guy to shut the *f-word up
And he actually did
I didn't care if he wanted to fight about it was so aggravated.
