I don’t think there is Sears anywhere anymore.
The manager of the Sears store in El Paso told me when I was 18 that Sears wasn't in the retail business, they were in the money lending business

He was referring to their credit card, that anyone could get regardless of history, and the outrageous interest they charged

He gave me an account on the spot so I could buy my first tool cabinet set and I paid it off, every month, and got a bigger and bigger credit line over the years until I was old enough and smart enough to quit using the Sears account

I hate the *f-wording *s-wordheaded cocklicking swear word censor too Dally.
thought there was age limit here
and why so many *f-wording censored *f-wording words because someone is crying about a word ?
if they are so *f-wording worried about a word should meet us in person
the censorship *B-S.... is really *f-wording retarded
by the time its done it will be so redacted there is only black lines
Mine the drum bearings started to make noise at 2-1/2-3 years and completely failed at less than 5. Few hundred to fix if I wanted to but the computer boards were a known failure point also at 400$ or so. Just gave up and bought the speed queen. Cabrio dryer still going though
the computer board on the dryer was 200 bucks
that was 5 years ago
Wish me luck: family about to arrive for the birthday party… I’ll check in when it’s over.
good luck girl

We bought Kenmore for years simply because we always bought the extended warranty and getting service was simple, but the last Kenmore washer and dryer we got were a nightmare and I can't count the number of service calls

I wasn't smart enough to figure out we could have gotten a new machine due to lemon laws until the tech explained it AFTER the time period had run

When the washer finally completely gave out literally a week after the extended warranty was up, the tech said we bought the absolute worst washer they had ever produced and oddly enough, the absolute best dryer they had ever had

We replaced them with Samsung and that was it's own mistake as my younger son, who bought the house, has had to replace the washer twice

NONE of the major brands actually has a service presence up here, they all use independent local appliance repair companies

Sears had their own people for a while but they finally switched over to third party repair people as well

There is no Sears up here anymore by the way
No Sears at all they bought Kmart as a last ditch figuring they could make it with both companies but that failed too. They waited too long to adapt to the internet sales or they still would be here probably. Had they shifted the thick wishbook to an internet version soon as the internet became bigger they would still exist. They had everything before amazon was a thing or Walmart, Sears and Montgomery wards were it. My grandparents lived in a house package ordered through Sears.

I grew up with Sears and the Christmas Wishbook was the highlight of my year

Guns, fishing gear, hunting knives, everything came from Sears because that's the credit card my parents had and all they could get

I agree with your assessment of why they went down the tubes

Speed queen is the best washer out there bar none. We went with the Maytag commercial MVWP576 because of the similar build style and 10 year warranty. It was cheaper than the speed queen and has a larger capacity.

Knock on my wooden head but it’s worked flawlessly for the last 5 years. It’s simple enough I can work on it unless something major goes wrong that would make it too expensive to fix. At which point the kids will be gone and I’ll just go with a speed queen.

This is true. After the house fire when my parents needed help from a debt service with settling their debt Sears was the only one who wouldn’t settle for anything less than every last red penny that was owed on the exorbitant interest.

I've got mismatched appliances, but we don't really care.
Washer- Maytag top load purchased May 1985, repairs None. Would like to have the super high speed spin, maybe with the next one.

Dryer -Whirlpool front load from 1988. Replaced the drum wheel and felt set once.

Refrigerator - Majic chef from 1989, bought at Banks, they were a clearance/overstock seller. 1 Repair so far, replaced the freezer defrost timer, Pain in the arsh, did it myself. About ready for replacement door seals as there are cracks showing in a couple of area.

Stove, 20+yrs old Jenn-air. Oven ignitor hot surface ignition replaced once, $7 part and 10 minute job.

Probably been lucky on the service length of our appliances. I'm not looking forward to buying any of the newer stuffs that have planned obsolesce built in instead of quality.

Looks like they didn't survey @Redfin

I've tried to explain this to people that don't get it...I'm sure you do.

People I laugh at and don't fear :

1 people that tell you about their massive gun collection in some kind of effort to scare me...lol

2 Truck decorated with NRA decals and FJB stickers with an instagram, boutique tattoos and bro-akley sunglasses.

3 a Facebook page showing everyone..

People I should fear :

1 people who keep a very low profile.

2 don't talk much.

3 people who keep themselves somewhat unassuming.

4 people that already have bodies under their belt.

I know guys that would air you out and go home and eat dinner like it never happened.

They aren't in that first group of people.

I'm more nervous around people with 1 gun and 10 bodies and no regard for life than I am of someone that tells you about their 50 guns that are all legally owned with a nice family and a good job..they just posture themselves..they aren't really with the business..

It's basic psychology..

I'm gonna buy a speed queen next, the set I saw was 5 grand, I hope it's worth it.

I talk about guns as part of the conversation not to scare people.

But you don't threaten people and act like a hard ass either...

My dad told me when I was young if you ever get to the point where you threaten someone with a gun or pull one out you better have the balls to use it..they might call my bluff..
