I have to be 100% sure my ol ferd has no exhaust leaks before I install the Holley Sniper. The o2 sensor will lie to the pcm if it has any. I plan on using my shop vac discharge plumbed up to the exhaust pipe.....

Thoughts?

The noise of the vacuum may hide leaks you could normally hear.
I'd somehow regulate down your air from your compressor and adapt that to it. Then use Tim's method of soapy water in a mist bottle.
And your correct, any leaks those things freak out. A friend put one on a Blazer and chased leaks for a while.

My only thought is you will have to seal off the air filter on the housing/filter side with a heavy bag. Reasoning is air will transfer across open int and exh valves in engine and escape out the air filter causing a loss of air pressure you are trying to build for your leak test. Word of caution Randy. Crack the oil filler cap to prevent overpressurizing the crankcase with air. I agree with Ed too. Just use regulated air instead of a shop vac. Nothing over 25psi.

There are a couple areas to block on our engines too. But in your application should not apply on old Red.

This thing is the shiz.
Different size "balloons" to seal off exhaust, intake ducts, etc.
Works great for finding induction and exhaust system leaks.
For once, a GM special tool that actually works...
