the brass pieces ride on the bearing or the wrist pin ?
On the bearing, but just the ends where the needles stop. The first set I made fit up onto the needles, but since they stop short of the end, I was afraid they would be too loose. I'll try to get more pictures tomorrow to better explain.

i understand what you are saying
so it would be better to groove the crank because if you groove the bushing it could possibly snag on the bearing if something started to fail
