Sounds like a solid plan. It’s good to see you back playing with this saw. Doing something outside of the everyday can sorta make it fun again.I dont think so Mike. I'm gonna make a notch on each side of the connecting rod. I thought about notching the brass, but I don't want to weaken it.

Timing numbers come out really good with this piston.

Why notches instead of drilling a couple of holes in the rod end? I have opinion either way, just curious if one is better/easier than the other.It is the husky bearing. I dont know of any other bearing that will work for this combination.
