They are building on the lot next door after finishing framing of the lot a few doors downThere are homes being built here. But the roofing, drywall, and block crews are begging for help. All the Latino help disappeared literally overnight. The problem is that no one wants a job. Especially a job that is manual labor. They can work at McDonalds and make 10 - 12 bucks an hour flipping burgers. Why would they want to get on a roof and nail down shingles for not much more?
All I'm gonna say is look who brought it up.I saw that TN is trying to bump minimum wage to $20. Gee, that’s worked out sooo well for other states, so far.![]()
Seems most of the crews around here are legal so not much attrition. They are building on the lot next door after finishing framing of the lot a few doors down
Lots of people working, as they always are around here
The framing crews are always white, as are the roofers, plumbers, HVAC crews, etc
I do believe some of the drywall crews they use have Hispanics among them but the crews have whites as well
The guys who painted our house inside and out were white
I am not trying to be racist here, rather, I am being a realist and just saying that apparently there are folks up here that WANT to work and that stay busy year round putting up houses
And they are predominantly younger guys
I have zero idea how much they get paid but it is obviously enough to motivate them to get outside and not take welfare or flip burgers
So, TN ported saws will go for $500+?I saw that TN is trying to bump minimum wage to $20. Gee, that’s worked out sooo well for other states, so far.![]()

Don’t let him con youHmm, the saw business ain't gonna get you there![]()
We have lots of that here but usually just for a place to stay for a while, not as many meth labs. I can remember 6 or 7 years ago one of my customers (Electrician) had his camper trailer parked in the locked compound attached to their office, one day noticed some foot prints in the snow and investigated and found someone living it in. it was so destroyed inside insurance wrote it off.No, the valley has their fair share of them
A friend that retired from the Judicial Services section of the State Troopers started up a business where he runs a circuit through the remote areas north of here and checks up on peoples cabins to make sure no one has turned them into meth labs
People were even getting into stored RVs in fenced and locked storage areas and making meth in them during the winter
People would go in late spring to de-winterize their rigs and cabins and find them destroyed on the inside
