Tamara once had an allergic reaction to something and had to be taken to the ER, the student nurse then shot the epinephrine right in to her IV instead of intramuscular as it is supposed too. Next thing Tamara remembers is the Dr saying "She has no vitals, get me the paddles"...
And, it’s only gonna get worse. Med schools stopped actually training doctors to be diagnostic experts (see the old tv series, House) and started programming young wannabes to use a diagnostic laptop. Which, by the way, are programmed by Ins and drug companies.

Good grief, that is terrifying

The boss is an RN BSN, among other things and honestly her decades of experience and training and her diligence are the only things that have saved her from blunders like that over the years

I actually called out a nurse once who was about to give her Tylenol 3 after surgery once, when she wasn't in any condition to do it herself

It scares me every time she has to go in for anything the least bit invasive
My wife is a CRNA and has saved me a few times or called out what a nurse was doing wrong.

The older docs and nurses are getting out before stuff starts hitting large fans. My hat’s off to those who stick it out as long as they can; they are the last of a dying breed. 😕

When my wife retired she was just dumbfounded by all the nurses and doctors being hired that were educated in other parts of the world, and weren't even close to the standards that were established for medical professionals in the US

That’s changing. Nurses are better trained than most new doctors now.

I have an old Williams B-52 3/8" ratchet that is skipping/ stripped. Sending it to Williams in hopes they can rebuild it. The rebuild kits show up once in a while on ebay but are discontinued. Mine looks like this one.View attachment 441924

I have $10 that says, you get a B-52A in return. B-52A is the Snap-on redesigned version of the original B-52 Superratchet. Williams went belly up in the late 1980's, when Snap-on acquired Williams in 1993, they redesigned the ratchets, and the rebuild kits are now completely different.

14-15 years ago I sent in a B-52 to get rebuilt under warranty, I received a B-52A in return and a note saying something to the effect they discontinued B-52 years ago, here's it's modern day replacement. B-52A is a OK ratchet, not as stout as a B-52 thou. B-52 is dual pawl, B-52A is single pawl and just feels cheaper overall.

$10 says this is what you will get in return.

Ka pai.

Your dodge is full of eels?
Actually, the “translation “ said “canoe”. 🤣

I had to look up your phrase and went down all sorts of rabbit holes. I’ve always been fascinated with languages; my dad taught 5 at one point. My sister and I…just the one, sigh. Dumb kids…

This actually happened more than 20 years ago, so can't say anything about current training. I will not get in to a conversation as to how different medical systems operate around the world.

The one thing that the comments today display, how badly we need an advocate with some knowledge in our corner each step along the way.

I once needed an endoscopy and colonoscopy so they did the procedures on the same appointment. The last thing the Doc said before I was sedated "Any questions?" I said, "None as long as you promise me you are doing the top before the bottom..." She didn't get the joke but one of the nurse that I had known almost 30 years before "Same old Gary..."

Yeah, once & great while, a B-52 rebuild kit shows up on eBay, most times they are pretty stinking pricey. Here's two that sold on eBay last month, first ones I have seen in a few years. I have two different saved searches on eBay and get emails when they are listed, most times it's hints for the B-52A kit thou, and not the B-52 kit. I may have missed a few thou, I don't always open those emails, just because they hardly ever show up.

If you watch eBay, NOS B-52 ratchets, come up for sale more often then the rebuild kits do, and for less money then the rebuild kits. I have a few B-52's that are brand new in the original packaging. I really like those ratchets, but not enough to pay more for a rebuild kit then a NOS ratchet.

Literal translation for waka would be canoe, but hardly any of us use a canoe day to day so it's become the word for any form of transport.

In all seriousness, props for your reply. One more person in the world looking into our native language, one more chance of it surviving.

Morena e hoa. Good morning friend.

It might be boring, repetitive, formulaic even, but i mean it.
