Try E1TZ-1R717-A, that's correct for the 80's. In the 90's they had to make a larger one for the diesel pickups, p/n F5TZ-1R717-B. Make sure you have the correct one for your truck as they are NOT interchangeable.

I had a 79 Mustang that I changed the heater core in.....remove the glovebox, take off heater core cover, slide heater core out....

My 89 the dash had to come out. Wasn’t horrible though. Two hours total to change the heater core.
