I got lucky and got my feet wet with the Highway Dept a while ago. When I left that to start my logging operation, I needed something to do in the summer, and a friend of mine just started buying out an excavating business from his dad, that his grandfather started. He needed some help, and I needed a little work. Turns out it’s been a great fit for both of us, as I don’t need steady full time work, and he’s flexible with my schedule as well. I really enjoy being able to operate all diff types of heavy equipment during my off season. Keeps me in practice.
