However, these days most equipment is made with the mindset that its cost over functionality.
My "service truck" has parts that"self delete" every 25k miles or so.
When your deuce and a halfs were made, that was a "necessary maintenance item" that they warned you about in the manual, and taught you how to maintain.
Wonder of you have the original manuals with your old girls.
I CAN tell you that they can be had with a few clicks of a mouse or your phones keys.
Maybe you were just taught what needed to be looked at, and what to do.
Used to be, ALL new automobiles and industrial equipment(ESPECIALLY MILITARY EQUIPMENT) had detailed manuals included or readily available to guide the owners in proper maintenance.

Part of the problem nowadays is that everyone EXPECTS an expensive new purchase to take care of itself, because they are too busy to bother with reading a manual and following simple instructions.

Main reason why a $5,000.00 economy vehicle now costs $25,000.00.

Not inflation. Ignorance.

They are very popular in India.
Those folks can fix damn near anything with damn near nothing.
They expect you to figure out how to fix it.
Thats what they do over there.

Its a DIY brand that those folks are used to fixing themselves without Much dealer support when they break.
