Those are bringing stupid money now
A 1978 parts truck with mismatched engine/trans and fenders
Sold for 23k at a farm auction
We couldn't believe it.

Some of them 1973-79 Fords people fight over. A guy I know about 20 miles from me, gathered up 15 of that body style fords, and he hired a auction company to come and sell them, and bunch of other cars & trucks he had.

People came from far & wide for the F250 4x4 highboys he had, and just the regular ford pickups also. Most of the 15 fords he had brought mid to high 20's, some broke into the low to mid 30's.

I was baffled, some of them had rust on the bottom of the fenders, almost none of them were turn key runners.

People were still fighting over them.

You are gonna have the ford guys blistering the jack shafts
Not saying the squarebody chebbies of the same day weren't good iron, but those Ferds just had a meaner look to them.
Chebby caught up in the 80s(as usual, about 10 years later).
Dodges from the early 60s to the mid 70s were also good-looking trucks(68-72? being the best).
Sometime in the 60s, engineers for the big 3 figured out there was a market for trucks, and the buyers DIDNT want them to look like that years flagship sedan.

IMO, this is the best looking dodge that was ever made. This used to be my truck.

This one is a very close 2nd.

Chelsea proving grounds in MI, where dodge used to test their trucks.

Not really.
Still suckin hind-tit slacker.
Wish I could save my grandads 74, but its rusted to chit. Didnt get to stay indoors.
Hope to save the 350 to put in Dads 86, as the pos 305 is shot out.

Wish I could have my cousins 68 C10.
Its actually in decent shape.
3 speed manual 327 truck. Long bed.
Dark green metallic color.
Solid truck. Probably go for WAY more than I'm willing to give for a Chebby WORK TRUCK.

Cant argue with that.
Dad had a 67 D100 that was originally bought by Standard oil company.
No fancy anything.
Had a heater, so that was nice...
Other than that, it was a 225 slant six, 3 speed manual, long wheel base.
Also baby chit yellow in color.
Loved that thing. All my childhood memories involved us camping, fishing, hunting, etc in that truck.
Doesnt REALLY matter who made it, as long as it gets you where you NEED to be.

1973-1987 Chevys were the same basic truck. Cab, doors, & bed wise.

1973-80 had hood spring problems, that would buckle the hood, and make them look all jacked up in the hood. The hood was a huge lever, and the hinges were way at the back of the hood.

1981-1987, Chevy gave them a face lift, with updated hood with different springs, and different core support, and newer looking grill.

1981 and up the hood was longer and covered the cowl with the updated hood & springs, instead of the separate cowl piece like the 1973-80 trucks.

Sure there was a bunch of different grills 1973-1987, and the different hood. But the basic truck cab, doors, and bed, was unchanged 1973-1987.

Wish I hadnt sold this one.
Cant justify trying to get it back though.
Ive heard its still local, but has been butchered and is just a shell.
Was originally a 6 cylinder basic truck.
I put the 302 and power steering on it.
1973 Ranger.

LOL! I just noticed the 74 Chebbie that my grandfather bought in 1976 or 7 is in the background of that pic.
That pic was taken not long after my grandfather passed way.
My brother probably had "paw paws" truck over trying to do some body work on it to try to save it.
Sorry lil bro, we both loved him, but you can only do so much with a Chebby...;)

That's makes me laugh pretty hard. Back in 1994 when I got married, wife totaled 3 cars just inside 4 months.

She blamed me for keeping her up late at night bumpin uglies. I was like well damn women I am not wrecking anything on the way to work. Must be you.

Anyways I needed to find her something to drive. I found a little old lady, one owner, 1967 fury, slant 6, 3 on the tree car, 37,000 miles. Red with calf crap brown interior. I handed her the keys and said wreck this chit dear.

Oh she hated that car. No radio, vinyl seats, rubber floor mat, manual on the column. She drove it a week and she was like GFY Matthew, I'm taking your black 1973 dodge truck, or I am quitting work.

Next week she took my black 1973 power wagon to work.

I chit you not, Friday afternoon, Todd & I are unloading tools in my garage, we hear a big crash boom bang, here comes my black dodge, and new red Honda following it.... dude jumps out, Mama you just hit my car and you did not even stop.....

Wife well you should not of been in my blind spot, this truck is huge.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Those original Power Wagons are badass. My personal favorite Dodge’s though, are the model years of 68-71 sweptline pickups, because of the grille and headlight styling. I also like some square body Chevy’s and the 78-79 Fords. Being younger than most of you, I also appreciate the trucks I “grew up with” such as the 88-98 Chevy’s and the early 90’s Ford’s and last but not least, 2nd gen Dodge’s.

I'm at decision making time on the Mercruiser 350 with 283 heads....

I have a Edelbrock Torker II intake with a 600 Holley....and a factory mid 80s dual plane with a Quadrajet.
And you're gonna waste ALL THAT on a Dakotah?
Id say go for it. :p
That pos NEVER had that kind of power available...
Let it LIVE!!!!
(even if its gotta live with Chebby parts in it.)
Ok, I couldnt be that supportive if you wanted to put that setup into a 1983-1991 Ranger.
Yes, I know they had chit for powerplants too...;)

There is this guy in TN you should talk with. He builds these hot rod saws and what not.

I bet he would steer you in the right direction, with the carb & intake choices..... Lol

I'm sure that Dakota will chit & git better with the edelbrock & torker II, low end to mid range.

If you want a screamer, try the other combo. Do 'em both, see which you think is best.

Can you have a grandson, if grandpa did not spread his seeds first?

As much as I appreciate my brother, but my grandfather will always get more respect from me.

If they went tits up and flopped, with this abomination, there would not be any 1st gen, 2nd gen, sweptline, etc.

LOL
