I was always quite fond of Rotella 15w-40, but I hear the formula isn’t the same as it used to be.

300k doesn’t seem like too much to ask from a $70k vehicle
I put Rotella T6 in everything I own. If it's good enough for OTR trucks, it's good enough for me. Plus I read a bunch of threads on Bob is the Oil Guy forums, for whatever that is worth.

I’m gonna guess that 0w-20 at 250° (or whatever it gets) doesn’t lube well like 30 or 40w did. But I really have no idea. My mechanic told me not to keep a newer car more than 100k miles or I’d be putting money into it

I really think we are currently dealing with a run of manufacturing defects.
We had issues here and there, but nothing like this.

Oil is still a big deal. They are asking more of it than ever, not just to lube, but actuate the lifters, the camshaft timing actuator, etc.
And change intervals are longer than ever..
And nobody checks it.

Smells like money.
I skimped by with a modified stock fuel system for long enough. The factory fuel system will pass particles up to 10 microns even though they claim it to be a 5 micron filter. That’s with a beta ratio of 100. Beta ratio 5000 is absolute. I have a company called hydrafil make me fuel filters rated @ 1 micron beta 1000 which translates to 5 micron beta 5000. Its particles 5 microns and larger that really do injection system damage. I’ll be using my filters on this fass system. Stock lift pump lasted me long enough that I’m not mad at it.

That's for sure Ed. On the diesel side we are running engine oil through a high pressure pump to actuate the variable geometry turbo and EGR valve. So with higher combustion temps, ring heights, and hydraulic functions engine oil is put through it's paces. It's an engineering and manufacturing catch 20.

So I gotta ask you as I'm looking to upgrade. Will that Wally World special hold ice all day in the back of your service truck with the sun beating on it??

Evening all.
Lots of ups and downs today. Hard to work/ learn from home without power, ours was out for over 3 hours today. I got my second AZ jab today. Remote schooling has been extended another week as our COVID numbers have us as the worst locale in North America and well, frost again tonight.

It sure will.
Usually get 2 days of good ice and its still cold water end of the third day. Thats with 2 bags. Winter time 2 bags will go all week, but it doesnt get openned as much then.
Like anything else, if its being openned every 30 minutes, it doesnt last as well.
Yeti wont even go 2 full days with a lot of traffic.
