Sounds like they run too hot. GM probably tuned them very lean to get better FE/lower emissions.

The opposite actually.
They are the coolest running gas engine I've ever seen. Almost like a diesel in that aspect.
In the winter we often get complaints of poor heat at stop lights.
Sub zero temps you can run them 20 miles and never see them at normal operating temperature.

Didnt know they were owned by David Round. Ruger is good stuff. So is most stuff DR makes.

I've seen one of those Asiany little Harbor Freight lifts fold up. I wanna be able to lift stuff without fearing for life and limb.

I'm so confused. How does it crack all the time if they run so cool? Bad castings?

I've only seen 3 heads crack, this bring one of them.

Why does any of this crap fail these days?
GM can't keep an active valve lifter in an engine to save its life right now.
I just finished a 2017.
I just pulled in a 2019, and there are currently 2 2020's with collapsed lifters here.

I’m gonna guess that 0w-20 at 250° (or whatever it gets) doesn’t lube well like 30 or 40w did. But I really have no idea. My mechanic told me not to keep a newer car more than 100k miles or I’d be putting money into it

I was always quite fond of Rotella 15w-40, but I hear the formula isn’t the same as it used to be.

300k doesn’t seem like too much to ask from a $70k vehicle
I put Rotella T6 in everything I own. If it's good enough for OTR trucks, it's good enough for me. Plus I read a bunch of threads on Bob is the Oil Guy forums, for whatever that is worth.
