https://www.alaskaoutdoorssupersite.com

Alaska outdoor supersite.
Has a lot of good info and content related to hunting, fishing etc. How much gun do you need for a brown bear? It's right up there with the 2 stroke oil threads. Anyway, it's somewhere between a .223 and .460 weatherby.

I remember in the early 90's, Outdoor Life and Field & Stream used to compete over who could print the most pages on that very topic. One of them actually did a centerfold on it, complete with stories from Alaskan guides on why they use what they use. Rather amazing, considering that what to shoot brown bears with is a question which maybe 1 in 5000 hunters will ever have to consider.

Yes I do, it will never be sold, my dad bought it for me when I was young. It will go to my nephew since I do not have any children.

Sounds like a winner, got any pics of it? You ever try .38-55 ammo in it? Most people report that the slightly longer and thinner .38-55 case works better as long as it will chamber easily. I will own a .375 and/or .38-55 someday. Henry just came out with a Golden Boy in .38-55, hopefully they'll bring out a standard blue version at some point.

Here, AS, FHC... FHC for good wood burning ideas/knowledge.

Also frequent St. Bonaventure basketball forums. You’ll never see such misplaced vitriol as in a college sports forum. It’s pathetic and makes Stihl vs. Husky debates seem bland.

I prefer forums over Facebook or any other social media; forums make no pretense about what they are (men, mostly... communicating in the ether).

I have never tried any 38-55 shells in it, the 38-55 brass is much thinner and I would be afraid it would not take the pressure. Last box of shells I bought was 70 bucks. I have all of the reloading stuff for it, so I just make my own. Winchester is the only one that makes the brass . The cowboy action shooters like the .375 brass due to the thicker case so it last longer.

Ar15.com (monster firearms forum, don’t fall into the GD black hole)
Tractorbynet (anything tractor/farm equipment related forum with a lot of info, a little too “euro” at times)
Orangetractortalks (kubota forum with not all that much activity)
Dpreview (photography forum with a lot of info and a of lot sensitive Sally’s)

I'm here sometimes, on A. S., and was a pretty active member on wildlandfire.com. That was a well moderated site, on June 30 2013 the mods and members had to do a lot information deleting pertaining to unconfirmed fatalities until official confirmation. Some of the granite mountain hotshots were members of the forum. That site is now gone do to some strange events that lead to the parent company closing suddenly.

Well no, .375 loads in .38-55 brass would be a really bad idea. The Buffalo Bore website has an excellent article on the .375 vs. .38-55 brass question. I have a beater 94 that may get rebored to .38-55 someday.

I’m also on bigpumkins.com thats my other hobby growing giant veggies. Funny they have a fabz over there named spudley that everyone including myself hates.

Ha. The internet is amazing; a forum for everything. Have you posted pictures of these giant veggies on OPE before?

"No problem, I'll take this bi!# down during my smoke break!"

I rarely check in on AS just to see if there are any PM's from fellow members that did not make the transition to OPE, I am no longer active there though.
I don't have the time to track and post similar content on two forums - OPEForum won me over as a permanent resident.

I recently registered to a German chainsaw forum, made only a couple posts, I check in like once a week.
I will most likely abandon it over time.

I am frequently visiting an old mobile phone stuff forum where I have been very active for a long time.
The demise of Nokia's Symbian OS and powerful Java OS based phones led to the site slowing down to a crawl.
At it's peak the forum was full of information with many contributors.
The Admins are trying to keep it going, as long as the site is up I will check in to it - I have a Moderator status there.

In summary, I am truly active only on OPE.

I visit the Subaru and square body Chevy forums. I used to do a lot on the smokestack forum.
Would you know a good subaru forum on restoring? I have what could be some hard to get vintage Subaru parts that i would like to get into somebody's hands instead of taking them to the dump.

If you want nonstop criticism about your choice of firearms by

Glocktalk is the place to be.

I posted this image I took of my, apparently super rare at the time, desert tan Glock 19, and they lost their freakin minds. That pic has over 20K hits.
