Hope you all are enjoying your New Years with family and loved ones. Sometimes life throws us curveballs and how we deal with them says a lot about our character. Tonight we will be celebrating the New Year in Children's Hospital with our little one. She has pneumonia in both lungs and we are in for a couple days stay. While it's nowhere near what we had planned for the evening I have to say I'm still a happy and blessed man. We are all here together as a family, she is receiving top notch care, we just got our bellies full with dinner, and her room has a nice big screen TV for us all to watch the football games and New Years programs. So Happy New Years and Best Wishes to You All for 2017.

Fleet of docs came in today to discuss. Seems we are gonna be staying longer than a few days. They are concerned after a CT scan we are dealing with something more than regular ol pneumonia. Of course all the specialists are out until Tuesday or later before more testing can be done. As far as the kid she feels great and is doing fine, can't tell there is a thing wrong with her. They just want to get to the bottom of things and see what's going on.

Thank You all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. I will keep everyone updated as we know more.

Man that sucks. Staying in the hospital with the little one is tough, been there done that. The fact that she had a CT means conditions were bad enough to warrant the extra radiation dose from the CT vs x-ray to figure out what's going on. Im headed tomorrow with mine for a follow up X-ray tomorrow morning. What they saw in the first x-ray on Xmas Eve was in an area that might be a lymf node or the lung, not real sure. We are expecting the area looks different as she's over the sickness and acting very well. Hope they get you home soon.

Remember, hospitals are not for getting rest. They come in and wake you up as soon as you actually are getting rest to check vitals. You have the right to tell them leave her sleeping to get rest through the night. Especially is there is no immediate concern and she just needs the rest, tell them to leave her. Do what's best for her. Most people forget that.

I spent a week in the hospital around that age w/double pneumonia... Still have scar tissue in my lungs. I've had it 3 times and been hospitalized twice for it...

Update. Yesterday was test day, scope this, poke that, prod here, cultures and a few biopsy's. She recovered well, docs said everything from a structure standpoint looks well. They are trying to get her discharged this morning as winter has finally arrived in Ohio. We are expecting 2-4 inches of snow ( not much) this afternoon and 4 or 5 days of cooler weather (still not cold).

That's the reason for their concern, she gets pneumonia every year in the fall and we battle it all through the winter until spring. She usually ends up in the local ER 2 or 3 times throughout. Children's is trying to get to the bottom of it and give us a reason why instead of continuing the pattern.
