I love the new Husky C85 chain. But I’m a bit miffed. The chain on my saw now has about 5 more file strokes left per tooth before the witness lines, or another 2-3 sharpenings left on it. But I have hit the limit of the tension adjustment. Husky 562xp, Husq bar, Husq chain. The bar is at full max forward of the bar slot on the studs, and the chain is sagging well below the bar. Anyone else had this? I’m going to try my older bar, but I’m really surprised it stretched that much. I’ve run several C85 chains until there was nothing left of the teeth, and this is the first one this has happened with.

Either:
1.) wrong DL count for the bar used to begin with
2.) You ran/run a dull chain and excessively utilize Your saws dawgs
3.) Your saws drive sprocket is worn out causing chain/sprocket meshing issues

Scrap the loop, the DL's will no longer mesh properly with the PH & bar nose sprockets!
Check and replace Your saws drive sprocket if needed when utilizing a new chain.

A C83 I am still running as a work chain, no tensioning issues on Husky small mount.

As what was said before:
* Check your sprocket for wear
* Double check your driver count on the chain to what the bar says - I have seen times when a new/another bar was tried out and the correct length chain was either slightly too big or too small.
* Try your other bar, same issue? If so, then probably the chain is stretched.
* You can potentially have a driver knocked out and the chain re-linked, however, before doing that, clean the chain and thoroughly inspect it for any cracked ties. Won't do you any good to knock out a link, when you might have weak links ready to break.

An out of specs stretched chain is the definition of weak links and rivets!

Besides, a new master link will not be worn as the remainder of the chain causing a rough running loop.
Throw it in the scrap bin and be done with it!

Found something interesting.
New bar above, old bar below. Both Husqvarna bars.

Much more adjustment range with the old bar.

Both 18” 0.058, 3/8” Husqvarna bars. Both roller nose but the old one did not have a replaceable nose and the newer one does.. The new one came on my 2021 562xp. I have a third 18” Husq bar on my other 562. Will have to compare it too. I think they are all Oregon made bars, before Husky made the switch.

I changed bars and got the last few sharpening out of my chain. There were 4 teeth missing by the time the first rivet gave up. New chain tomorrow. Woohoo!

Surprised that husky can handle an 18" 😆.

LOL. I know. Tough to find 18” large mount and pre-made 18” loops. Everyone wants to sell you longer. I cut ~100 cord of firewood blocks last year and not once did I wish I had a longer bar.
I think I have a couple 18inch big mount bars I will probably never use if you need some more

Lot of bars are being made in CHi_COM territory. Brand name not withstanding. QC is sadly lacking. Yes, even Stilh. Same with chains them selves. Then to add a little frosting on the cake. Bar oils have gone down hill also. Combined with super stingy oilers on the saws. Perfect storm.

Ozaki, Oregon, Ozaki

I don't seem to have trouble finding bars and chains in those specs, have new spares.
