I agree, but the middle port would hardly make a difference, so I group it together as one with the hole under the deflector. We only get the hole and slit, no front cover half hole like the non USA version, but the old style had a big vent on the front cover.

They must have a reason, its a wasted effort otherwise from manufacturing stand point. The half hole front cover isnt usa version?

Nope, it's too hard to cover it with a spark arrester screen, and the old style front cover was too loud to safely use.

Stihl contra/070/090 and the other trims family turns 61, stihl 070 are still available in 3rd world countries. Arguably the most indestructible saw ever made and sold worldwide, now its sold as ms720 although 070 are still available
