Love my 046 ported by Randy. She's a screamer. Also have an 044/10mm headed his way shortly

@Lightning Performance They make these anti-vibe foam padded gloves. I use a pair on my FS130 for heavy brush work. If I run that thing without them for a half hour or more, my hands are practically numb afterwards. Maybe give them a try on your 660. Would be tough though running a saw and keeping foam gloves from ripping apart. Have to be conscious of that if you tend to pull brush while cutting.

These are Stihl brand, but there are others. Probably find some on the usual online shopping sites.

My FS130 R has the exact same affect.... Getting old Lol!

I'm reeeeeally glad to hear these gloves work. I'll have to snag a pair.

Thanks.

I've got a company 461 at work, bone stock Aussie spec, it's alright but wouldn't swap my 044xb for it, not a chance. Reckon a ported one would be pretty damned cool though

So if you had the option to keep your 44 or trade even up for a brand new 461R XB

What would ya do?

There is no replacement saw out there right now that will give you the performance of an 044 at the same weight.

A 460 or 461 is an excellent bucking saw, but fully fueled is is almost 2 lbs heavier than an 044/440. Limb some large branches that you have to reach for and you will notice that difference very fast.

How are the spring mounts holding up on the big Stihls with big bars?

I know when the 441 came out they had a mushy feel, my C-RM felt nice though. However, I didn't run it much then sold it. I just couldn't get used to the bulky feeling over my 440's.

As for @Deets066 question above, I don't think I'd trade my 440 for a new 461. Mostly for the reason stated by @MustangMike above. Well that and the simplicity of a 440 is a dream to work on.

2 lbs?

Some of that is additional fluids due to capacity.

I've got limbing saws.

Yes, but about 1+3/4 lbs w/o the fluids, and it needs more fluids for the same run time.

So your saying a 461 is not as efficient as an 044?

The fuel consumptions are so close the difference is minuscule: between a 461 & a 440, anyway. Like immeasurable, to be specific.

I never said not as efficient, but the larger displacement/larger crankcase saw will normally eat fuel faster than the smaller displacement/smaller crankcase saw, all things being equal.

I really like 461s, never bashed them, but a 044/440 is a different saw. IMO, it is not the same category.

The 461 & 460 are comparable. Stock, the 461 usually will eat it for lunch, ported, IMO, they are very close.

Did you get a chance to run either of my 460s at the GTG?
