The 084 was stronger in that area?

Absolutely - the 084 crank is legendary for being tough and the 084 connecting rod is used when hotsaw racers have 3120 cranks modified as it is a lot
stronger than the 3120 connecting rod. The engineering team that designed the 084 crank and rod were firing on all cylinders at the time. The team
that designed the 088 and MS-880 cranks, not so much.

Very interesting Jacob. Incidentally I've just brought one!

Playing devil's advocate here, but why do they need a 80cc saw when the 71cc saw they have now makes more power then the 500i already at $500 less? Honestly to me drop the 545/565 and do a 50/6070/80/90 cc version of each. But if you are going to build a 80cc saw it better make close to the 8hp mark and be priced just slightly more then the 572 or it will get little attention and sales.

572xp 5.8hp vs 500i 6.8hp
Explain to me how the husky has more power?

I won’t belive that.
Not because it is a husky.
The reason... why would the manufacturer say 5,9 hp when they really have 7,2.
They can make so much more advertisement with such a strong saw.

Filling the right niche?
Or 7,2 is only with Stihl 1:100 mermaid oil?

Stock 572 @ 7.2hp, look at the Dyno thread.
Are you serious lol? Thats extremely surprising!!!
Have they dynod the 500i on the same device? I only ask cause his dyno may be calibrated differently. Unless both machines are dynod on the same Equipment its hard to compare apples to apples.
Id look through the Thread but i dont have time to sift through that many pages

Yes the 500i was dynoed on the same machine, and I can say I have owned booth saws and ran booth saws, and I sold booth saws, so I am not biased towards either, facts are just that, and for the price, air filter, and fuel economy and AV all favor the 572, weight favors the 500i.

But not anymore
I'm definitely frustrated.
I believe, there is a gap of information.

Correct. It had some issues, some to do with the carb and some we think to do with ring end gap and or the flatness of the exhaust roof. Some our fault, some the manufacturers issue.

Did it run good stock? Perfectly happy with its mother the 372 xp.
Just not even close of the same torque/hp as the 7900 it replaced but easier to start.
I was thinking about the 572 xp, but for me the proven durability tipped the scale.
