New case half or creative fix ?

image.jpeg Dis-assembling a parts saw I bought a couple of weeks ago and found this. Looks like someone used the wrong size screws on the oil pump and it pushed through the case. Anybody ever encounter this ? I thought about putting a dab of silicone in there and running to see what happens.

If its a difficult case to find then worth a repair but cost compared to another and being sure it would remain air tight with the movement when hot/cold would be in my mind.
Looks like its on a set of aftermarket bearings ... (farmertec) ..Dont know if you put them in or they were in there already .

Like others have said, Epoxy. I would sand the blistering paint in the crankcase also. Spray the whole thing with brake parts cleaner and blow off with compressed air.
Then bolt on the oil pump with the correct screws(degrease the screws first). Take a tooth pick and apply a little grease to the tips of the screws on the crankcase side(as a release agent). Epoxy it. When the eposy has fully cured, disassemble and spray brake parts cleaner into the threaded holes and rinse out the grease/release agent.

Silicone is a bad idea. Epoxy is a bad idea to me. Why give something a chance to rattle loose and ruin a piston. If the threads are good loctite will seal the case and no more is necessary. If the threads need work that will have to be addressed.

Husqvarna 372 oilers bolt holes are like that from the factory. If no other damage I would just smooth it out and use 1184 or another sealant on the bolts and run it. I'm with frogfarmer epoxy on the Inside of a saw is a bad idea long term, especially if the area isn't properly prepped. Why risk it coming loose is what I'm saying.

Or, 3M weatherstrip adhesive on the pump screw threads. Actually, the broken out portion is just cosmetic.
