So, if an on-line seller does not carry .404 gauge chain, or is out of stock, or does not even know what it is, is that a special kind of '404 error'? If I order .325, and get 3/8, is that still a .404 error?

Don't know if it's been mentioned, "long thread to read through" but squaring up the leading edge of the drivers helps clear chips and keeps the oiler hole in the bar open better, a few strokes with a round file is all it takes.
