With the tank full and a brand new fuel filter I figured the gas should be squirting out the line after I remove it from the carb. But it is not. I can get gas out by sucking on the line. Hey...watch with the sucking comments.

Checked the tank vent. It seems to be working fine. Also, new spark plug.

Try blowing down the fuel line into the tank, if it squirts back out when you release you know it's not the filter.

Ps, if it's fine you'll end up with a mouthful of fresh mix, so keep some coffee or beer handy to swill it down with :borra2:

What do you have the mixture screws set at? Is there a limiter cap on the high?

She's alive. I got educated today and put in my place. I have worked on numerous small engines and consider myself pretty good at working on them. Not as good as I though I was.
Check your spark plug, if it's wet you may have a weakened coil. I just went through this with a saw, had spark but it was skinny and weak. Would pop, fire for a little then nothing. Not only should it be able to jump about a 5mm gap, it also should be a nice thick blue color. If it's pink, white or faint blue your coil is suspect.
If the spark plug is bone dry, go back and look through the fuel system again. Sometimes they have a hard time pumping air at pull start speed, spray a little fuel in the carb throat or the spark plug hole usually after a couple tries with this, it should be primed up and running.
Check the muffler/screen for obstruction.
Also compression should be over 100PSI.
After going through the fuel system numerous times and racking my brain I put the spark checker back on the saw. It had about the same spark before which dimmely lite the bulb. I though that was enough. Pulled the tester off and went from the plug electrode to the cylinder. When pulling the handle multiple times I noticed the spark was intermittent. I readjusted and tried again. Same result. I though i must have made a mistake. Decided to swap the coil with another one. That was the problem all along. Sorry to lead you guys down the wrong path on this one. Thanks to everyone for there comments and time. Also...Stump Shot, you're the man!

Hey Big Red can you ohm out the bad coil at the high power lead and the square connector on the coil?
