K, so I got this carb because the carb on my 335 leaks fuel back through the check valve into the tank. Anyone who is familiar with a Husky top handle knows how long the fuel line is. Anyway, got this carb from a 334/338. Was going to try it to see if it held fuek. Only thing is, how the fuk do you adjust it? Do I need a special screwdriver or how do you take those freakin caps off?? Those in the know if you would share your knowledge with me it would be extremely appreciated.

Can you snap a pic of the top of the carb? I know some of the stihl zamas have black dots that show where the stops are, and you can drill them out.

I tried turning it either way, wouldnt do that. Its got a little yellow dot at the bottom of the screws, but I cant see anthing close to a tab. Looked on Zamas site, nothing. Its frustrating. Might just take a drywall screw to it and say the hell with it.

Tom it is hard to tell from the picture but my best guess is you need the left hand thread limiter cap removal tool.

Seems like noone has experience with this carb..called the dude that sold it to me, he owns a chainsaw shop, and he never worked on one. Looks like I'll be on my own on this one

Thats alright. An excellent pic that looks exactly like the one I've got. The more suggestions I get, the better. Zamas website has something close, but not the exact one. I think like Joe said I've got to get a left hand tool.

Looks like there may be a way of lining up the grooves in the limiters with the brass inserts and then pulling the caps . Hope you can make out the detail on the IPL.

Can you carefully drill out the brass plugs and then just leave limiters in and get full rotation? Maybe just the H one?

Doc, I dont know. The limiters are hard to turn as it is. I'll look at it closer on Wednesday but the brass plugs are not even close to the limiters. They are probably there as a guide for remival. What I cant understand is there is VERY little info on this carb even on Zamas site. NO info that I've seen in regards to the plugs.

You were closer than you think. Gave Zama a call, and while they couldn't specifically tell me how to do it, per EPA, he did tell me once you get the caps out, you're left with the screws. The caps are no longer any good, and they dont make a replacement. Hence the EPA. He then told me the brass balls were the key. When I asked about drilling them out, he said sure. Piss poor design was his words, not mine. So it looks as if this one is going to be the guinea pig. Sray tuned for more info. Already ordered a el19 that has the plastic caps, so if I screw up it doesnt matter!!!
