Dang! Lotta work in that there 500i. I like your observations on better airflow and slightly rougher ports. Same with water. One of the fastest sharks in the world is up here in Alaska. They get beyond 50 mph and the salmon shark has an exterior like 60 grit sandpaper.

Cool videos, I like the detail. How do the 500’s stack up against the 462’s, both ported?
I have both a tree monkey 500i and a 462 ported by someone else (who is also a reputable porter), the 500 is quite a bit stronger. Especially with a 28-inch bar.

Not going to say it's worth 2000-2100$ to upgrade. Depends on your wants and needs I guess.

There was a carburetor with a small passage on the metering side of the body.
Danged if I can recall which one though.
For whatever reason, many people seemed to be just overlooking that little hole and were having troubles with the carbs.
To me it it was no different than making sure you had the impulse hole and the intake gasket oriented correctly. Just simply look at the details, right?.
But Tree Monkey took the time to photograph and post a thread about it and thus helped a lot of people.

Whatever the project is, tractors, compressor motors, plumbing, stacking wood for better drying. you name it...
This is why I always appreciate when someone puts the effort into getting photos and posting a thread and sharing the knowledge.
