He told me one time the 462 ported would be his one saw plan but maybe he’s changed since then.

No still available. Had a few questions but no tiggers pulled yet.

Kevin, do you think this 462 (if I had you mod it) would run with my 460?
A ported 462 should be comparable to a 460 but it’s probably not going to “feel” as good with a longer bar. Better bet would be to pick up the 500 @Matt Schmitt has for sale. That’s a more apples to apples comparison with a 460.

I think the newer 462’s are more on par with the older stuff. The older ones would be faster but can’t be leaned on as much

So I am reading between the lines here and getting the vibe that the ported 460 has the nod from many people.
I gotta say, it does run extremely strong.
And when Kevin turned it back to me he said he was happy with it

Weight is a big one for me, the 462 feels so nimble in the hands.

462 hasn’t really proven itself like the 046/ 460/ 461. The power is similar, but the great thing about the 462 is the weight

Yep it’s got plenty of power. Maybe a little peeky compared to the 460. I’d choose the ported 462 nine times out of ten. Heck if I liked the 460 I’d have 3 of those instead of 3 7910s. I should have been more clear though. It’s not easy to put into words. The 460 balances better with a long bar than the 462 for my tastes.
