I can understand if you live somewhere remote and you only have one station to buy from. I'm blessed to have 3 stations that sell e free fuel within 5 miles or so of my houseYeppers !
Yeppers ... and your saw won’t likey that fuel for long especially if ported ! Seems a bit foolhardy to spend $1000 on a powersaw and run questionable mix thru it ... Now depending where you reside the fuel is supposed to be regulated by the state or province but I’ll be a monkeys-Uncle if I’ve EVER seen em testing the neighborhood pumps ! I’ll stick with motomix as my first choice ; second choice 91 ethanol-free ... STAY AWAY from corn-gas !!!
Consider yourself very lucky. None at all in RI. Not one station. Trust me. I checked and followed up on every lead. Only e free is canned fuel. How do you like it?Yup. That's what I use. I buy the 5 gallon cans.
Looked like there were two Sonoco in RI. Few around here.View attachment 133134
Yah ... and running that “*s-wordty gas” in a $1000 powersaw ain’t gonna work out well !I saw the department of Agriculture here in Kansas shut down the pipe line station in Topeka because of high ethanol content last year.
Some got stuck with *s-wordty gas.

No sir. It looks like they sell it. But not at pump. Only in cans. Just does not seem to be available in New England.Looked like there were two Sonoco in RI. Few around here.View attachment 133134

Yah ... I don’t blame ya my friend - better to pay a bit more for the fuel than to jeopardize an expensive saw ... I’m in the USA and STIHL prefer Motomix myself lol !!! If ya want to do some research about fuel and refineries it’s all available and I’ve come to the conclusion the fuel just ain’t what it used to be ... kinda like the economy ... cutting corners here , shaving pennies there ; it all adds up to paying more for less ... NEW vehicles are computerized with sensors and subroutines to ALLOW for crappy gas ! Chainsaws not so much but the tech is coming ... and we are gonna PAY for it !!!I m unfortunate enough to live in a country where “economic chaos” brought more than usual ways at most products to become fake or dangerous with gasoline sitting in the first row.
The 100octane costs nearly 2€ per liter which is VERY EXPENSIVE and still not sure of quality even at the same gas station.
So since our daily life became gamble of what you pay and you finally get STIHL MOTOMIX stabillity is an oasis in the desert. Yes very expensive at 5€ per liter. But you know what you gonna get.
Which is why I have 36:1 97 octane e-free for milling. & yes IMHO ported cylinder 661-c pulls better with that than any of the other expensive ways to go at it.Exactly. Higher octane needs higher Temps and compression to burn correctly.
