I made a call the other day to long time friend and fab/ saw builer/ shop owner in the Fraser Valley. The ones guys have put falling wraps on have been breaking cases at the front? No issues without wraps?
Sounds like they are still having an issue getting fallers wraps (likely that's add ons only) so maybe they were getting a full wrap around and that was part off the issue? I can't understand the connection if it was a 3/4 wrap unless they are getting clipped? The ol' stuck, spit and butt kicked treatment. Common in Cedar country when they grow in doubles and snags.

The conversation was going quick...Have to call him up again and maybe a can grasp a better understanding.

Looks like the case does wrap around the bar on the front which shouldn't relate to a 3/4 wrap being the cause as far as I can tell?
failure (light cases) is the word.

Maybe breaking where the limiter is on the cases?
.
Is that in where the handle structure wraps under the saw at the front somewhere? I've seen the upper spring mount break at it's aluminium screw on mount set up where it mounts ahead of the handle bar on the outside. Not too big of a deal if you like the saw enough. Keep extras on hand.

I think so, it’s a piece of the tank handle that goes into the cases with a rubbery sponge isolation thingy wrapped around it. There’s also a limiter pin that goes from handlebar into near where the cylinder fins are. There’s a circle in the case where the pin goes into.

OK. Right, usually lots of side bumpers and back and forth travel limiters I remember the circle travel limiter on the 576 and also 572 has one on it I noticed. The 372 has the moulded circle in the tank and the pin off the case if I remember right. Some models have rubber bumpers too.
Sometimes I would take them off once you tweaked it. Them bumpers are for you first mistake. They are like an air bag.
If you don't replace springs then you had to take a bumper off. Yes the 462 has the wire in the spring so it can't overstretch in length to the opposite side.

Maybe it was something superficial with the case from the limiter. IDK? I find out.

Are there stiffer springs available for the 462? Just a thought, might help if the issue is over flex.

a sharp chain would probably fix the problem
The conversation you and I just had would be a great addition to this thread...

The sum of which, essentially is that the saws maximum bar length spec has alot to do with the saws av system design. Operating beyond it, putting larger spikes on the saw and changing the position of the fulcrum, and being ham fisted with or without a sharp chain...the saw is bound to have some failure.

Some questioned the weight of the saw giving up durability, I dont feel that's the case. I feel the end user is responsible for that, regardless of brand.
