If I was racing a bike and had a piston let go like that, AND I found out that the stock piston had failed in other bikes - I'd try and find a better piston to stick back in the bike. I would use the same philosophy in my saws.

Anybody have any experience or have ever heard of how a Meteor piston works in a 461?

The 461 is definitely limited, that said...a dull chain and poor technique could cause saw to be bouncing off the limiter all the time.

Not sayin that's the case but a possibility. Pretty *s-wordty what they did to him

Isn't that an argument that they set their rev limiter too high? - The saw isn't reliable at those speeds. It still doesn't sound like an 'operator error' to me, more like the piston and/or rev limiter aren't appropriate for a commercial saw.

Wow, they took the bloke's saw from him. What was all that about? They wouldn't be trying to do a cover-up would they? - I wonder if there are more stories like this to come out of the woodwork.

Hmm, is there a new part number for the coil?

I can understand a brand wanting to inspect a product for warranty approval/disapproval but at no point does Stihl 'own' the customers product unless they choose to replace it. At that stage I would imagine a form would get signed legally outlining this. That is not right what they did and I am not sure what legal foot their standing on. That sux, I'd go em on principle. I wonder whether Stihls hefty 'price reduction' on OEM pistons has anything to do with these failures. I hope the quality has not changed.
